I’m just getting into burning essential and fragrance oils instead of candles for home scents. Where are your favorite places to buy them and what are your favorite scents?
Also what are some good mixes for essential oils? Are any of them good just alone?

Can I use essential oils in one of those fragrance diffusers?

Posted by admin on June 26th, 2010 and filed under fragrance oils | 2 Comments »

The ones that have the oil holder then the candle underneath? Or do you have to use a special kind of oil, the home fragrance oils that you buy at like Bath and Body?

What you describe is a duftlamp. It disperses oils that are too thick for a diffusor with heat rather than an air pump.

They are intended for use with essential oils. Synthetics are known to be responsible for a myriad of health problems, from endocrine disruption to environmental because they persist in the environment.

You should add some water to the reservoir with the essential oils to keep them from burning. They should just be warmed to disperse and never burned.

What scents can be used in candles outside of fragrance oils?

Posted by admin on June 22nd, 2010 and filed under fragrance oils | 3 Comments »

Can products be purchased say from Walmart to scent candles and if so what are the products.

No you can’t use those scents. To have a candle that would have a strong scent you would have to add more than the recommended amount and then it wouldn’t burn properly. I have heard that Jo-anne’s or Michaels carry them but I usually purchase from a candle supplier so I don’t know about those places. You can order some great oils at www.cajuncandles.com they are some of the best on the market. There are a lot of online stores that sell fragrance oils.

Does anyone know how to make your own fragrance oils for candles?

Posted by admin on June 19th, 2010 and filed under fragrance oils | 1 Comment »

I need to know how to best extract fragrances from things like trees and plants. With it, I will need to know the specific equipment required, if anything specific.

First off you could not grow enough plants unless you have several acres to grow a plant you want to extract. Because you need pounds of it just to get the oil extracted from the plant itself, and you need a distill set up for it. It’s a very large scale operation. That is why its so expensive if you have looked at price list.

Your best bet is just to buy essential oils , try mountain rose herb they sell larger bottles of essential oils at a pretty good price.
