does anyone know a good place to purchaise fragrance oils to scent home made soap and candles?

Posted by admin on July 12th, 2010 and filed under fragrance oils | 2 Comments »

Preferably small sample sizes – i want to sample a lot of fragrances without paying an arm and a leg

There are several places on line that sell soap and candle fragrances, just make sure you only buy the soap safe ones. This is one of my favorite places to buy them, they have customer reviews on most of them. So you can see how others used it and how well they hold up over time. Or if it will discolor your soaps, many Fragrances will cause discoloration, sometimes it takes a few weeks to happen so be forwarned, vanilla fragrance is frequently the culprit that turns a white soap brown.

Can you put fragrance oils in baths just as you can essential oils?

Posted by admin on July 8th, 2010 and filed under fragrance oils | 1 Comment »

dsds, you too appear to have used improper grammar (it is grammar, not language) in your very first sentence. It has no subject. But you are right, I am sure I will have a lovely bath.

Thanks for the advice Girl Behind the Camera.

yep but only use a SMALL amount.
I mix epsom salt and fragrance oil and put that in my bath when I really need to relax

Wholesale designer and traditional fragrance oils?

Posted by admin on July 6th, 2010 and filed under fragrance oils | 3 Comments »

I am looking to purchase designer and traditonal fragrance oils wholesale? There are so many companies listed on the internet claiming to have premium oils, but its impossible to know if they have good smelling premium oils or the cheap stuff. Can you please give me the names of some reliable/reasonably priced wholesalers/suppliers that you know or have personally done business with. Serious responses only …Thanks

There are a number of growers and distillers in North America that produce high quality oils fulfilling the criteria of therapeutic grade.

Look for the designation "AFNOR: or "AFNOR-EC" on the label. Oils that carry this fulfill European standards for essential oils. (There are no American standards as yet, but they are currently in the making.) AFNOR stands for "Association Francaise de Normalization." It is a French government-approved organization. Oils that meet this criteria must regularly send samples to France for testing before they can print the "AFNOR" on the label.

There is only one North American company that routinely sends oil samples abroad for AFNOR testing and that is Young Living Essential Oils. In addition to meeting AFNOR standards, therapeutic grade oils must also be organically grown, unadulterated, properly distilled and packaged, which YLEO oils do.

Over 90% of the oils sold as "essential" in America are food or fragrance grade and unsuitable for healing purposes.

Hope this helps.

UPDATE: Since doing this review, I have learned that the Babassu Conditioner is nothing but a base mix from Organic Creations with a fragrance oil added. Strangely, I’m not mad, because it smells SO GOOD. But, I won’t be ordering it again – I’m going to get the base (which is $18 for 1/2 a gallon) and the chocolate fragrance oil, and make my own. Oh well, I still love the condish!

Babassu Butter Conditioner: Ingredients: organic aloe juice, organic jojoba oil(nourishes), babassu butter(softens), ester wax (veggie based), emulsifying wax, honey extract(adds shine), collagen(strengthens), panthenol DL(Vitamin B5), vitamin E, lecithin, rosemary extract, grapefruit seed extract, potassium sorbate , vitamin C fragrance

Shea Butter Conditioning Cream Rinse/Leave In: Ingredients: Aloe Extract, BTMS(Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Jojoba Oil, Shea Butter, Glycerin, Quaternium-79 Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Panthenol, Vitamin E, Allantoin, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Sorbic Acid(food grade paraben free preservative),essential oils or fragrance

Are home fragrance oils by All Natural Botanicals any good?

Posted by admin on July 3rd, 2010 and filed under fragrance oils | 1 Comment »

If so, which ones are the best and/or the most popular. I’m not real into food smells. Thanks!

food smells? lol.
all natural botanicals is pretty liable. 26 years experience seems fair. internationally sold is good too.
it never hurts to not limit yourself to a single distributer.
if you have herbs of your own you could learn how to make your own oils with a double boiler.
essential oil distillation.
good luck.

I have oils for making candles but dont have time today, and I have company coming over and want it to smell nice in here. thanks

Put a drop or two on a lightbulb and turn on the lamp for 10 minutes or so in each room you want to smell fresh.
