Scents

I enjoy going into the sauna at the gym and I had bought several bottles of aromatherapy essential oils. Is it alright to mix all of them together in a bowl of water and then pour it into the sauna rocks?
How many drops are ok? And is there anything that would make them work better?

skate. it is absolutely fine to mix these oils in the sauna. but if you are going to put it on your skin like for a massage make sure you do a patch test first on the inside of your elbow. if it doesnt itch or burn after 15 minutes, then you are fine. good luck.

I have a great "recipe" to make bath salts and it calls for lemon essential oils. Where would I find these?

Essential oils are usually sold at a health food/nutrition store. They come in small bottles and are used for soaps, scents, bath salts, etc.

I know that burning insense and scented candles around my budgie is hazardous to her health but i am wondering if the same goes for essential oils? If so, any suggestions on some birdie safe ways to fragrance my room? Thankyou!

Anything that "scents" the air will be dangerous – even cleaners. If you want some nice fragrance in your room, your best bet would be to go natural. Fresh pine branches, changed out every so often (keep them in water and they will last longer). Or a chunk of wood that you can sand every once in a while to refresh the "scent". Pine, cedar, and juniper are all very fragrant woods that hold the scent for a long time and can be refreshed by sanding the wood every so often.

Recipe calls for 5 drops of essential oils, I’m trying to figure out how many 5 drops I can get out of 16 oz.

ok, will have to do some conversions, I’m in the UK, an aromatherapist and we use ml not oz

but 1ml = 20 drops
now 1 oz = 28ml
so 16 oz = 448ml
= 448 x 20 drops = 8960 drops
which if you divide by 5 = 1792 lots of 5 drops!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

that is one heck of a big size bottle of essential oils
are you sure it is pure and not diluted with carrier oil?

I know that cats are allergic to phenol in essential oils and they’re allergic to some.. so which one can I use in my house besides ylang ylang?
Also, how is this any different from people using bleach on their counters?

The thing with cleaning with bleach and anything that is harmful to your cat, is that you need to clean any way you normally would, and then probably wipe it down with water (which is what I do) and then dry it, or let it air dry, before you let your cats around the counter. I usually wipe my counters down with bleach a few days a week and after following this routine, my cats have never been sick, and they are on the counters a lot. So, just be cautious.
