I am using Johnson and Johnson regular massage oil so far and someone told me that mixing lavender essential oil will make it more soothing when I massage the baby. My baby is a month old.
Congratulations on your new baby. Yes lavender essential oil is safe for your baby as long as you just use a few drops. Essential oil is natural oil expressed from a plant and used in many cosmetic compounds. You can also make your own lotion that is all natural for your baby if you wanted too.
In a full bottle of baby oil put 3 drops of essential oil, and blend. Lavender is very calming and soothing to the senses. The act of massaging an infant is also a great way to calm them. They love being touched especially by Mommy.
Is is safe to mix a few drops of lavender essential oil in baby massage oil to make it more soothing for baby?

Essential Oil I want 2 blend my own oil blends How should I clean my hand mixer between mixings of Blends?
I use a hand mixer to blend my essential oil formulas (oils or lotions).
okay I can see that especially with those metal blades.
I thought of doing it because I see they have that set up @ Bath Junkie.
Any cleaner you use needs to be rinsed off with water and then alcohol in order to make sure it doesn’t leave any residue. Also, mixing with a hand blender isn’t recommended – for oils, just roll the bottle between your hands. Lotions are a little more difficult, but you can mix it using a wooden spoon. You don’t want to adulterate the oils with any others as that can affect their properties.
Essential Oil & Henna Experiment
May shares another experiment that she did with essential oils. Thank you May again for submitting this information.
May wrote….. I mixed henna with lemon juice, left 12 hours for dye release then divided in 4 parts, one part I left with out essential oil, second part I mixed with cajeput EO, third part with cedar EO and fourth part I mixed with pine EO and left for another 12 hours dye release. From the previous experiment I sent, you know that lemon juice helps henna to achieve darker stain. EO I used for test are certified organic so no crazy chemicals in them. After dye release I did 4 test spots on the hand. Picture is taken aprox. 12 hours after paste removal.
Spots nr.:
1. henna + lemon juice = lightest
2. henna + lemon juice + cajeput EO = darkest
3. henna + lemon juice + cedar EO = second darkest
4. henna + lemon juice + pine EO = second second darkest, almost the same as with cedar EO

Can someone guide me how to make an essential oil contained face pack?
i mean what shud be the quantity of say lavander &/or rosemary essential oil in a face pack. can even give me link of some site with the instructions too.
This would be for a clay mask. (Is that what you mean by a ‘face pack’?) You can purchase dry clay in bulk and prepare enough for one mask at a time. If you are planning on making a large amount, please use distilled water or a hydrosol and be clean and neat about all of you containers or else you will likely grow some mold in your mask. Combine your dry clay and water and stir just enough to mix. Let it sit for a few minutes, check on the consistency and add more clay or water as needed. When using essential oils therapeutically it is best to start with a 3% solution. When addressing something very serious in an aggressive manner, you can of course increase your %. Here is a simple method of calculation solution %. We will use the example of 30 mls of carrier. 1 ml is = 30 drops and 30 mls = 1 ounce. 30 mls would be @900 drops. 900 drops X 3% = 27 drops. Sooo…if you are going to make a one ounce mask, you can add about 27 drops of essential oil.
Essential oils and clays are available at eoils.net.
Have fun and good luck!
How to dilute essential oil into pour and melt soap?
I wondered how much drops of essential oil I need to put into 1 kg of pour and melt soap
do not add any water to your melt & pour soap. if you have a good quality fragrance oil or essential oil you will probably want to use it at 3% up to 6% maximum.
it really does depend on the essential oil, though.

How many types of essential oil are benefits for health?
As there are lots of essential oil for maintaining health is available in the health stores and i would like to know which are the best one so one should not end up buying various types of oil.
tea tree oil is good for external health. it has antiviral, anti fungal, and antibiotic properties. it’s excellent for cleaning cuts, wounds, etc. it also makes for an excellent around the house cleaner, instead of using chemicals. mix some white vinegar with a little water, and put 10-20 drops of tea tree in a spray bottle, and there you go. kills germs just great.

What essential oil do you use in your henna?
I was just wondering what essential oil do you use in your henna to make it darker? Also which are the safest to use and the easiest to find in stores? Thanks all in advance!
Sneakers Girl
Lavender is the most gentle, easy to find, and cheap. It’s not as strong for darkening as others, but it’s a great choice for sensitive skin and pregnant women and is stronger than many other oils. Any essential oil that’s safe for skin and contains terpines is what you need. Tea tree, cajeput, and ravensera are probably the strongest and best terps, but only ravensera has a nice smell. Tea tree and cajeput both have a methol, mediciney smell. There’s lots of lesser terps that are useful, and often I’ll use them along with either tea tree or cajeput to tone down the strong smell. Lavender, clove bud oil (only for non-sensitive skin), cypress, cardamom, and geranium are all good terps, and things like neroli, pine, basil, rosemary and a few others have some terps and will help somewhat with darkening. For about half a cup of henna, about 5g of powder, I use about ten drops of tea tree or cajeput, then about 10 drops clove bud because I love the smell. But for sensitive people I’ll use about 15 drops of lavender instead.
Citrus oils are phototoxic and shouldn’t be used, neither should camphor or cinnamon. Clove bud is a good terp and smells wonderful to most people (cookies!) but it can be irritating for some people. Use it sparingly and make sure it’s clove bud, not just clove oil. BTW, eucalyptus is crap and won’t help darkening. And no essential oil rubbed on the skin will help either, it has to be put into the paste. I’m just saying since that’s a common ingredient in cheap henna kits. There are some eucalyptus that does have enough terps to darken henna stain, but most do not, and it’s not any cheaper than better terps.
Lavender, clove bud, and tea tree aren’t very expensive, neroli and ravensera can be quite expensive, although they smell so nice it’s worth it. Make sure you buy aromatherapy grade pure essential oils, not combined with a carrier oil like grapeseed or almond oil. Essential oils won’t solidify in the fridge, but carrier oils will, so if it ends up looking like wax it’s not pure. Keep your oils in the fridge and buy them in brown or blue bottles that will keep out the light.
