How can you put 80 candles on a cake?

Posted by admin on June 28th, 2010 and filed under candles | 11 Comments »

It’s my grandmother’s 80th b’day soon. I want to have 80 candles on her cake but I’m not sure how to actually convert my idea into a practical plan. Any suggestions? Or any alternatives?
I don’t want to use the usual 8 and 0 shaped candles.

Go for the full effect. Get a sheet cake, I would get a 1/2 sheet even if you don’t need that much cake. Put all of the candles on….8 x 10. When you get ready to light them you will need some help to get them all lit before the first ones burn out. Use four people to light them if you can. You would each be lighting 20 candles. Start in the middle and work your way out each direction, so you don’t have to reach across the flames. I would have the two people on each short end of the cake light 16 candles each, that would be two rows. The other two people would light the center ones and they would start in the center…. 4 rows from the edge…. and light the six candles in the middle of that row…then move out a row and light six more. Each of those people would be lighting a total of 24 candles each. Have your cameras ready for that shot of all 80 candles burning.

EDITED: Sure you can. a half sheet, which only costs $30. measures 16 x 24. To put 80 candles you would have 8 going along the 16" side and 10 going along the 24" side. You would have a little over 2 inches between each candle. I just cut a piece of styrofoam 8 x 12 (which is 1/4 of what we are talking about) and I put 20 candles on it (which is 1/4 of the total candles). It looked beautiful.

Within Temptation – Candles

Take away
These hands of darkness
Reaching for my soul
Now, the cold wind,
blows out my candles
Feeling,
only fear,
without any hope

A thousand dark moons
A thousand winters long

A million fallen stars,
the candle burns in the womb

We try not to forget,
they live through us
Slowly they die away at every candle’s end

A thousand dark moons
A thousand winters long
A million fallen stars,
the candle burns in the womb

We try not to forget
They live through us
Slowly they die away at every candle’s end

how to color already prepared candles that we buy from shop?

Posted by admin on June 26th, 2010 and filed under candles | 6 Comments »

i want it for my ritual the candles i have are white?

I like the ideas posted about using crayon or colored wax to add color to your candle. Acryclic paint I’m not so sure about…that might be ok for decorative candles but I’m not sure how they will burn or if there would be any toxicity.
You might even try inscribing the candle with one of the ancient alphabets labeling it blue (or whatever color you need).
Blessed Be!

I was wondering if anyone knew why non-drip candles don’t drip? Are they made with special ingredients?Or maybe the process of making them is different? Thanks!

How can you stop smoke damage from candles ?

Posted by admin on June 16th, 2010 and filed under candles | 12 Comments »

We like to have candles out at Christmas but have recently – and expensively – re-decorated our living room …is there any way to have candles without causing smoke damage ?

when putting out your candles cover them so the black smoke gets caught in cover. putting out the candles is where you get the most smoke damage not while they are lit

Little sisters of the sun lit
candles in the rain,
fed the world on oats and raisins
candles in the rain
li the fire to the soul
who never knew his friend
meher baba lives again
candles in the rain
to be there is to remember
lay it down again
lay down
lay down
lay it down again
men can live as brothers
candles in the rain….

LYRICS TO LAY DOWN (CANDLES IN THE RAIN)
CHORUS
lay down lay down, let it all down
let your white birds smile up at the ones who stand and frown
lay down lay down, let it all down
let your white birds smile up at the ones who stand and frown
we were so close, there was no room
we bled inside each others wounds
we had caught the same disease
and we all sang songs of peace
CHORUS
so raise the candles high cause if you
don’t we could stay black against the night
oh raise them higher again and if you
do we could stay dry against the rain
CHORUS
we were so close there was no room
we bled inside each others wounds
we had caught the same disease
and we all sang songs of peace
some came to sing, some came to pray
some came to keep the dark away
so raise the candles high
cause if you don’t we could stay
black against the sky
oh oh raise them higher again
and if you do we could stay dry against the rain
CHORUS

The Crests – Sixteen Candles (Digitally Remastered)

Posted by admin on June 9th, 2010 and filed under candles | 25 Comments »

One of the most beloved recordings from the 50’s doo-wop era, the Johnny Maestro-led Crests reached #2 on the charts in December of 1958 with “Sixteen Candles”. The original Crests line-up was one of the first inter-racial rock groups that featured not only Maestro in the lead but also Patricia Van Dross, the older sister of R&B great, Luther Van Dross. Maestro would leave the group in 1961 to pursue a solo career that took a while to blossom, and not until he hooked up with some members of the Del Satins which ultmately would become known as Brooklyn Bridge did he realize some success.
